The plan uses and refers to examples from Letts Science Book. To describe sounds using relevant vocabulary. To know that sounds are made when objects or materials vibrate. To make careful observations. To know that sound needs something to travel through. To know that sounds travel through solids, liquids and gases. To plan a test to measure or observe how well different materials muffle sound. To, through group discussion, plan a fair test. To know that stringed instruments make sound when the strings vibrate producing sound waves. To know the term ‘pitch’ describes how low or high sound is. To know that the pitch of a stringed instrument depends on the length, thickness and tightness of the string. To know that you can produce louder sounds by hitting or banging percussion instruments harder.
